This process is actually pretty basic and it involves the introduction of the materials that are required to make the product. The materials for Plastic Injection Moulds introduced via what is known as a hopper into the moulding machine. The moulding machine consists of a barrel, which is heated and it is equipped with a reciprocating screw. The reciprocating screw is driven by a motor, which will either be electric or hydraulic. This motorized screw feeds the molten polymer into the split mould, which is temperature controlled and this is done through a channel system of gates and runners. The reciprocating screw melts the polymer as well as acting as a ram during the phase when it is injected. The friction of the screw against the polymer creates additional heat and this helps to create the required dimensions for the product.
